Privacy policy

BiteScore is a food discovery app for the Maldives. It lets you rate dishes, record short bite clips, and share what you found with friends.

Account data: your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google.

Content you create: ratings, taste tags, written notes, photos and 15-second video clips, and the dish and restaurant they belong to.

Location: only when you ask for nearby dishes, open the Bite Map, or rate from a restaurant table QR code. We use your approximate coordinates to check you are near the restaurant and to sort results by distance. We do not track you in the background.

Notifications: if you allow reminders, we store a push subscription for that device so we can send your bite reminder.

Payments: if you buy BiteScore Pro, we store the amount, currency, reference and status of the transaction. Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider and never reach our servers.

Basic usage events: which share buttons you press, so we know which features to improve. No advertising identifiers, no ad networks.

To show you dishes worth eating, keep scores and badges honest, prevent fake ratings, send the reminders you asked for, process purchases, and support you when something breaks.

Our hosting and database provider stores your account and content. Our payment provider, Swipe (Bank of Maldives), processes purchases. Map tiles and place lookups are served by third-party mapping providers. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Your ratings, tags, photos and clips are shown publicly as part of a dish's score and the community feed. Your email address is never shown to other users. InstaBite clips you upload stay in your private library until you share them.

Ratings and dish content stay while your account is open. Delete your account and we remove your profile, ratings, clips, badges, reminder subscriptions and follow relationships. Payment records are kept where we are legally required to keep them.

Open Your status and use “Delete my account”. It removes your data immediately. You can also email us and we will do it for you.

BiteScore is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
